Minister of Transport Simon Bridges has authorised a strategic alliance between Air New Zealand and Air China, which will lead to Air China offering a daily service between Auckland and Beijing.

This alliance means travellers will be able to access more flights and lower fares between New Zealand and China, and allows Air New Zealand and Air China to better coordinate operations on the Auckland-Shanghai and Auckland-Beijing routes.

Air China’s new service will compete with existing services operated by China Southern, China Eastern and Cathay Pacific, ensuring consumers have access to a greater range of choices for travel between New Zealand and China.
